What's your name?
What area are you running in?
What is one thing you would do to encourage more young adults to live in Greater Sudbury?
For the ones currently here, learn the history of the city. I believe you need to understand and learn the past of what our city has accomplished (regreening, mining tech, who the names on the buildings are and what they did... ), that's how I gained more admiration for this city. For those thinking of moving to Sudbury make sure they know that Sudbury is not just a snow machine, hunting and fishing town that there are many festivals and other forms of entertainment for young and old.
How would you address homelessness and addictions in Greater Sudbury?
Safe Injection Site, but I actually want to better that by saying an all-inclusive centre where this building would house SIS plus addiction centres along with a men, women and family shelter along with a food bank. People need to gain the trust of an individual to ask for help, after they have that trust we may see more asking for help with an addiction or other service in the centre. If all facilities are in one location it makes it also easier for Sudburians to find the services they need.
If you could start over with roads in Greater Sudbury, how would you develop the transportation network to improve quality of life?
I would have built roads in a grid system and grew those roads from the centre outward. This way all roads lead to your cities core.
If you were to create your own public art policy for Greater Sudbury, what are three things you would include?
The city already has a public graffiti wall downtown but I would expand that to other areas of the city as well. Possibly Bell Park on the rocks as people walk the boardwalk they can view so great local art.
I would love to see more murals/statues placed throughout the city that go with the area to illustrate the past and future of that area.
There’s been no major private sector investment in the downtown core for years. Why do you think that is and how would you change it?
1997 YMCA & 2017 LU Architecture building the last 2 major investments by the city. I think council just gave up as they approved other development in other areas of town noticed growth there and figured continue in those areas because that's what people want. I don't believe staff wanted to put in the effort even though the tools are already inplace to increase business & development downtown. I would like to use those tools and canvass retail businesses to invest and build downtown.
If given the chance, would you renegotiate the ward system in Greater Sudbury? Elaborate why.
This current system was designed to give every ward a piece of Sudbury because the initial system outlying wards complained that there were more Sudbury councillors and would only vote to only develop Sudbury. With the system in place sections of every ward are left behind because of this design, I would like to have it changed so each resident gets proper representation but its to find a model that will work and have all excepting of the change, that is the difficult part.
Greater Sudbury’s environment is a work in progress. What would you do to keep our water clean, our trees healthy, and air fresh?
With no cap on money build a filtration system that takes the water out of Ramsey filters it and sends it directly to the lake again. I would talk to those with more knowledge in this area and we have many great people in the city that have ideas on how to keep the water clean, trees healthy and air fresh.
What would you do to foster a healthy business sector throughout Greater Sudbury?
Canvass for new business, competition always brings out the best, whether its services or building widgets. 1 Widget store owns the market but 5 widget stores create a balanced pricing and better employment, no one wants to lose employees so benefits and wages increase, which creates a better the lifestyle and living environment of all Sudburians.
If you had to choose 5 emojis to describe your platform what would they be?
